36 fun-filled integrated activities help students learn about careers and community. The activities provide practice in critical and creative thinking skills, math phonics, word study, writing, art and drama. Everywhere, everyday, we encounter people with different jobs. Guide your students in a learning adventure about jobs and the people that perform them. In the process, teach about community roles, and assist children to recognize their value and role in society. These activities are suitable for individual or group work, or centers.

Learning Objectives:

  • To introduce the different types of careers and jobs that people perform in a community.
  • To develop and reinforce many skills required for independent thinking and work habits.
  • To provide the students with an opportunity to meet people who can relate information about their work and to provide the opportunity for students to visit a variety of places where people work.
  • To provide the students with an overview of the dangers, rewards, challenges, routines, risks taken, and demands of working at a job or a career.
  • To inform the students of the importance of each type of work or job in a community.
