Frances feels jealous and out of sorts because it’s Gloria’s birthday and not her own, leading her to sulk as the family prepares for the celebration. She watches everyone make decorations and wrap presents, feeling left out and wishing the attention were on her instead. Eventually, Frances decides she should give Gloria a present too, but once she buys the candy, she struggles with the temptation to keep it for herself. In the end, she overcomes her jealousy, gives Gloria the gift, and learns that generosity feels better than holding onto resentment.
