Frances, a young badger who insists on eating only bread and jam, quickly learns that having the same food at every meal isn’t as wonderful as she imagined. Her parents allow her to stick to her choice while the rest of the family enjoys varied, delicious meals, and Frances soon grows bored and envious of what she’s missing. After watching her friend Albert happily eat a wide assortment of foods and realizing that bread and jam alone isn’t satisfying, Frances decides to try new things. In the end, she happily embraces a balanced diet, learning that variety makes mealtimes far more enjoyable.
