Give your students a reason to celebrate each month of the year. These activities will take you through the twelve months of the year. It is jam-packed with information and follow-ups for fifty-three special days and celebrations.
Developed to help make students more aware of the cultural differences of people living in our Canadian society. Students will enjoy learning about the customs and traditions of different cultures and will develop a better appreciation for their celebrations. Religious, civil, and seasonal holidays with origins in Aboriginal, African, Chinese, European, Hindu, Japanese, Muslim, and North American traditions are all included.
While your students are enjoying and learning about the various days and observances, they are also practising a wide variety of previously learned skills and the ability to express their ideas and opinions in good sentences.
The format of the activities focuses on the following reading skills: Recalling Information, Noting Details, Classifying Sentences, Context Clues, Sentence Completion, Finding Proof, Word Meanings, Alphabetical Order, Synonyms, Antonym, Nouns, Main Idea, Researching, Spelling, Evaluation and Definitions.
Each month includes teacher notes and each activity includes information at least one follow-up worksheet with answer key.
