This seasonal topic will take you through the twelve months of the year. It is jam-packed with teacher information on celebrations and traditions, teaching suggestions and ideas, poetry to share, recipes to try, songs to sing with your students, suggestions and art ideas to try, and activities for each special day and celebration. 

The lessons and worksheets cover 37 different Canadian special events and celebrations that are celebrated throughout the school year by a variety of cultures. 

Your students will become more acquainted with, and will develop a better appreciation for the different traditions, symbols and festivities carried out by different cultures in Canada. 

While students are enjoying and learning about the various days and observances they are also practicing a wide variety of new and previously taught skills. The wide format covers the following skills: brainstorming, recalling events, sequencing ideas, context clues, phonetic sounds, word study, creative writing, expressive language, vocabulary development, making inferences, classification, following directions, rhyming, listening skills, creativity and mathematics.
