Story Summary:

Esperanza Ortega, a smart, pampered, young Mexican girl from a rich family, has everything a young girl could want. She lives with her loving parents on the family's successful plantation ranch and dreams of the day she will take over her mother's position of presiding over El Ranchos de las Rosas. When her papa is suddenly killed by bandits, Esperanza and her mother are forced to flee to California to work in a Mexican farm labor camp.
