These activities and lessons have two intentions:

• to teach concepts that relate to Global Inequalities and
• allow the students a chance to explore their ideas through active research and collaboration with their peers.

The lessons do not cover every single expectation of the curriculum. These activities are meant to complement the lessons that are given and allow students the chance to access wide ranges of skills and abilities in the learning process.

 Lesson Topics:

Lesson 1: Factors Affecting Development

Learning Intention: Students will learn about the different factors that affect the economic development of countries.

Lesson 2: What is the Economy and the Different Types

Learning Intention: Students will learn what the economy is and the four different types of the economy.

Lesson 3: Global Wealth

Learning Intention: Students will learn about the factors that contribute to global wealth in selected countries.

Lesson 4: Quality of Life

Learning Intention: Students will learn about the quality-of-life people need to survive, and the many areas of the world where this is lacking.

Lesson 5: Making a Difference

Learning Intention: Students will learn about the Ryan’s Well Foundation and how it grew to help kids who didn’t have access to clean drinking water.

Lesson 6: The GDP

Learning Intention: Students will learn about the GDP and how it affects a country’s economic growth.
