Sight Words & Phonics Book 3 builds essential early‑literacy skills through a structured, research‑supported approach using Dolch Sight Words 121–170 and key phonics digraphs (“sh, ch, th, wh, ck”). As stated in the resource, “These unique workbooks have been designed to assist educators and parents build and improve reading skills through an introduction to Sight Words and the reinforcement of important Phonics skills.” Students learn through repeated exposure, tracing, copying, matching, sentence building, and short decodable stories that use only the words taught in each unit. The workbook also includes assessments, ABC order, plurals, rhyming, and visual discrimination tasks to reinforce mastery.

This resource aligns with foundational literacy expectations across all Canadian provinces and territories for Grades JK–1, including Ontario Language expectations B2.1–B2.4 and C1.1–C3.1. It also meets U.S. Common Core Grade 1 Foundational Reading standards (RF.1.2, RF.1.3, RF.1.4) and Writing/Language standards (W.1.3, L.1.1, L.1.2). Its structured progression, decodable stories, and explicit phonics instruction make it ideal for emerging readers, struggling readers, and intervention programs.

Designed for emerging readers and readers having difficulty or requiring review at any level.

The six units will assist you with building and improving reading skills through the introduction of the next set of 50 Dolch Sight Words 121-170 and the reinforcement of important Phonics skills. At the same time, short vowel sounds are introduced and reinforced.

Each unit introduces 10 sight words that are broken up into 2 lists of 5. In between each list, a short vowel is introduced. Sight Words and vowels are then reinforced through short sentences and revision activities that follow. To end the unit the student reads a short story that only contains words they have learned and practiced.
